You can change currency and withdraw cash at the ATM machines in Aberdeen Bazaar. It is advisable to carry enough cash when travelling in and around Port Blair, Havelock & Neil Island. It is advised to carry enough cash because there are satellite connectivity problems.

Major network operators like BSNL, Airtel and Vodafone-Idea are operational in Port Blair. The connectivity however is low in certain areas. Reliance-Jio doesn’t work at Havelock & Neil Island.

Internet and telecommunication services in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands are presently dependent on satellite connectivity and have access to limited bandwidth. Even when there is internet connectivity, it is slow at best with the combined bandwidth availability for Andaman & Nicobar Islands being only 3.2 GBps.
For internet usage browsing, you can use the Wi-Fi available at the reception of most of the hotels.
The legal drinking age in India is 25 years. There is usually two main choices available i.e. either local govt. ANIDCO’s or Wine shop. Beer brands you will get it for cheaper rate. Whisky and Rum only few brands are available. The cost is little high. But it is worth after all. In Havelock and Neil Island you won’t get it that easily. You need to carry from Port Blair. One can carry 2 bottles while going by cruise.
It’s not customary to tip in Port Blair as hotels and restaurants already charge service tax. You are not obliged to, but can tip a certain amount if you are pleased with the services and food.
The city has a low crime rate and therefore considered relatively safe. However, petty crimes like pickpocketing or bag snatching are common. It’s advisable to always be cautious of your surroundings and avoid visiting isolated areas.
