Swaraj Island earlier known as Havelock Island is a located near south of Port Blair in one of the islands of Andaman. 

It is famous for its dazzling white sand beaches and fascinating coral reefs are admired by nature lovers from mainland India and around the world.

Government ferries run from Phoenix Bay jetty, Port Blair to Swaraj Dweep daily.

At Swaraj Dweep auto rickshaws, taxis, buses, motorbikes are available for transport within the island.

Places To Visit

Radhanagar Beach- 

Asia’s Best Beach and rated amongst the world’s top ten beaches. 

Radhanagar Beach (Beach #7) is the most beautiful on the island and was rated as the best in Asia by Time in 2004. 

Gorgeous, silky white sand backed by a forest that provides welcome shade looks out over turquoise water, some stretches with a sandy bottom good for swimming, and some with excellent coral reefs that are great for snorkeling – a great combination indeed.

Changing Rooms, Lockers, and WashroomsIt is advised to carry a towel and changing clothes.  Freshwater washrooms are also available for a nominal fee. You can keep your valuables in the lockers and have fun in the sea.


Eating Options Near Radhanagar beach. 
There are many roadside vendors selling fruit salad and tender coconut. 
For lunch or a few pint of beers you can walk down to the Barefoot resort, as it has got one of the finest restaurants in Andaman. A beer will cost around Rs.400 and lunch Rs.800 per person. 
For vegetarians one need to go back to the Havelock Jetty and you may have your lunch in the famous seaside café called Big Bite.

Kalapathar Beach-

It is also one of the well-known beaches at Havelock & is considered to be one of the spectacular beaches, White sand of the beach, greenish and blue Sea as the background looks really inviting for a tourist and the scene is unique for a tourist as all sea does not look like this colored. 

How to reach Kalapathar?

Kalapathar beach is situated at the end of Havelock Island. The road to the beach resembles a marine drive with a tropical, coastal touch.

Timings

The beach is open for tourists for the whole day. One should visit the beach before 5 am for picture perfect sunrise.

What to see at Kalapathar?

The emerald seas, the tropical forests on one side of the road, the kalapathar (black rocks) that decorate the coastline, the silken smooth silver sands, and the sheer solitude make this beach a great place to relax.

What to do?

You can swim here, but be careful from the sharp rocks.

What to eat?

There are many shacks along the roadside selling coconut, fruit chat, and cold drinks. You may try the mango chat for a change.

What you cannot miss.

Do not miss the sunrise view from this beach. You can hire a two-wheeler to reach the beach in the morning in case your driver is not available in the early morning.

You can skip going to this beach in the afternoon as it could be very hot.

Elephant Beach

Elephant Beach is one of the most popular destinations in swaraj dweep, due to its serenity, clear water, and water sports. 

The beach is located 8.6 KMs from the jetty and is considered the water sports haven of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

How to reach Elephant Beach

The first boat leaves at 8 am and the last boat returns back by 3 pm. Boats operate continuously during this period from Havelock jetty.

What to see Elephant beach?

The beach is famous for adventure sports activities and underwater activities like Sea walk.

What to do?

Sea walk and Parasailing are the must-do activities in Elephant beach. The complimentary snorkeling session is not to be missed.

What to eat?

Being a reserved forest area, there are no eateries on the island. Some vendors do sell tender coconuts and fruit salads during the morning hours.

What you should not miss.

Do not miss the underwater coral life and fish life, you can get to see these by either snorkeling or glass-bottom boats.

What you can skip

You can skip the glass bottom rides if you have already done scuba diving or sea walk in Havelock.

Vijay Nagar Beach

Vijay Nagar beach is the berthing place for most fishing dinghies and many tourist boats. Locally known as Bongadera, this beach is a hidden paradise since very few tourists visit this place.

How to reach ?

Vijay Nagar beach is a walking distance from the No.3 market area. You need to ask the locals to get to the lane joining the main road to the beach.

The beach is open for tourists the whole day. Most tourists visit the beach for sunrise.

What to Expect?

It’s the crystal clear water and sandy beach that makes it beautiful, especially during low tide.

What to do?

You can swim here, but be cautious about the sharp rocks.

There is literally nothing on the beachside but there are various restaurants located in the main market, just a few minute’s walk from the beach.

Do not miss the sunrise view from this beach.

Govind Nagar Beach also know as Nemo Reef

Govind Nagar Beach in Havelock is a serene and lonely beach perfect for long walks, especially during low tide when you can walk through the water among the corals and spot a variety of marine life.

How to reach?

Govind Nagar beach is at the walking distance from Havelock Jetty. You can hire a  cab to reach here within 10 minutes from most of the hotels on the island.

Beach Timings

The beach is open for the tourists the whole day although it is good to enjoy in the early morning and the evening. It will be very hot here in afternoon and one can even get sunburn. The tropical climate can be harsh in the middle of the day.

What to Expect?

This is a scenic and lovely place. Good to hang out with friends or explore solo. Sunrise view is amazing from this beach. Ideal for photography in the morning.

What to do?

Scuba diving in Nemo reef is the most sought-after activity on this beach. You can also try snorkeling or swimming on your own. It is advisable to venture into the sea only under the supervision of an authorized guide or a scuba diver.

What to eat?

Tender coconuts are sold near the resting hut. It is the best drink to keep yourself hydrated. There is also a small tea stall and a fruit chat vendor in the morning hours.

Do not miss the underwater coral life and fish life, you can get to see these by either snorkeling or Scuba diving. Scuba Diving is recommended the most.
